Bonnie Featherstone-Johnson and Jason C. Spiro Appointed to VNA Health Group Foundation Board of Trustees

Holmdel, NEW JERSEY (November 23, 2020) – Bonnie Featherstone-Johnson, founder of BonaFide Staffing in Red Bank and longtime Monmouth County philanthropist, and Jason Spiro, founder and partner of Spiro Harrison, a litigation firm based in Short Hills, New Jersey, have been appointed to the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group Foundation (VNAHG Foundation) Board of Trustees. Mr. Spiro was formally voted in on August 26 and Ms. Featherstone-Johnson was formally voted in on October 28, 2020.

Ms. Featherstone-Johnson held a successful sales career in the clinical research sector of the pharmaceutical industry before establishing her own staffing firm, BonaFide Staffing, in Red Bank, New Jersey in 2007. Over the course of her career, Ms. Featherstone-Johnson has remained dedicated to giving back in Monmouth County and served in development roles on several Boards of Trustees including 180 Turning Lives Around from 1995 to 2000, The Community YMCA from 2000 to 2005, The Center in Asbury Park from 2008 to 2011, Lunch Break from 2012 to 2019 and currently at InterFaith Neighbors. She has chaired the Outreach Committee at St. George’s Episcopal Church for the past 11 years and chaired the Lunch Break Capital Campaign from 2012 to 2015. Ms. Featherstone-Johnson was named an Iconic Influencer by Lunch Break in 2019. She holds a Master’s in Education from Elmira College and currently resides with her husband, Thomas, in Red Bank, New Jersey.

Ms. Featherstone-Johnson was recently introduced to the VNA when her husband received care after a diagnosis of COVID-19 in 2020. Grateful for the care and support of VNA nurses, Ms. Featherstone-Johnson sought an opportunity to get involved in and support the VNA Foundation.

“I am in awe of the nurses who courageously go into patients’ homes during this most difficult time,” said Ms. Featherstone-Johnson referring to the work of VNA clinicians during the COVID-19 pandemic. “My family is beyond grateful for the care we received and I’m inspired to become involved in supporting such an important mission.”

Mr. Spiro established Spiro Harrison, a high-level, boutique litigation firm in 2015 after more than 10 years serving as an attorney at several law firms in New York and New Jersey. He was selected as a Top-Rated Lawyer by New York and New Jersey’s Legal Leaders in 2013 and 2014, and as a New Leader of the NJ Bar by the New Jersey Law Journal in 2014. He holds a J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School and a B.A. in economics from Rutgers University, and currently resides in Short Hills, New Jersey.

Having followed Visiting Nurse Association Health Group’s efforts to take COVID-19 referrals from hospitals and nursing facilities and treat patients at home, Spiro Harrison announced in May 2020 that its New York City, Short Hills and Red Bank, New Jersey offices would host a firm-wide campaign to support those who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. Visiting Nurse Association Health Group (VNAHG), along with Lunch Break, a Monmouth County food pantry, was chosen to receive a matching donation up to $10,000. Funds raised through the campaign and match would directly benefit the VNAHG Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund, making a significant impact on VNAHG’s ability to continue providing care for COVID-19 patients.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bonnie and Jason to our Board of Trustees,” said Lynn Spector, MSW, Chair of VNA Foundation Board of Trustees. “Both are pillars of their communities, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our organization. Their involvement will help our Board continue raising critical funds that will make a transformational impact for thousands living in New Jersey, Ohio and southeast Florida.”
