Colleen Nelson, RN, MSN

    Vice President of Clinical Operations Children & Family Health Institute

    Colleen Nelson is Vice President of Clinical Operations for the Children & Family Health Institute at VNA Health Group. Colleen is responsible for the oversight and administration of two of the three Centers in the Institute: The Center for Early Childhood Development and Family Support. The latter includes Home Visitation, Special Child Health in Monmouth County; Early Intervention Services in Monmouth and Burlington Counties; and the County Councils for Young Children; and, the Center for Pediatric Home Care which provides nursing, therapy, aides and social work to pediatric patients under 18 years of age as well as Mom/Newborn visits.

    Colleen’s career at VNA Health Group spans over 30 years serving in increasingly important roles from staff nurse and Clinical Nurse Manager to administering the Healthy Families Program in Asbury Park. Under Colleen’s deft guidance, the VNA now operates a Healthy Families/TIP(HFTIP) Program in the cities of Asbury Park, Long Branch, Perth Amboy, and Newark. She was also instrumental in establishing the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) Program in Middlesex County, Franklin Township in Somerset County and for a new site in Ocean County. In 2012, Colleen served as a Program Manager for a new home visitation program, Parents as Teachers.

    Colleen’s passion for helping others is reflected in her work with women, children and families. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Nursing Administration to fulfill her aspirations as a leader and innovator.
