This festive tradition invites the community to celebrate the start of the holiday season and raise important funds for VNAHG’s hospice program. VNA is we are proud to honor longtime VNA supporter Lou Amato and CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services for their dedication and commitment to the VNA and its mission. Proceeds will enable VNA Health Group’s hospice program to continue to provide high-quality, compassionate care for patients and their families at end of life.

Lou Amato

Lou has over 46 years in the insurance and healthcare industry from a Human Resources Executive through Operations to the Chief Executive role.  For the past 16 years, Lou has worked as a consultant, and a National Leader for Healthcare of CBIZ Benefits, Lou remains actively engaged in client consulting work. 

Prior to becoming part of CBIZ, Lou was Chief Executive Officer of Cathedral Health System, a five hospital system with over 5,000 employees and in excess of $800 million in revenue, serving Newark New Jersey and the surrounding communities. Before joining Cathedral, Lou was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of JFK Health System based in Edison and Plainfield New Jersey. In this role Lou oversaw 7,000 employees and all of the operations for JFK Medical Center, Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson Rehabilitation Center and a number of other facilities and again totaling over $900 million in revenue.  During the course of his career, Lou also managed the employee benefits plans at both Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and Franciscan Health System. 

Lou currently leads population health initiatives for CBIZ Inc. and serves as Advisor and Board Member for several Accountable Care Organizations.  Through the years, Lou has gained extensive experience in designing and implementing value-based health plans.  Additionally, Lou has been a member of various pension and health & welfare boards throughout his career. Lou’s career working inside hospitals and negotiating risk sharing contracts on behalf of integrative physician groups gives him a unique understanding of both the provider payment system and the insurance procedures and practices.     

Lou has been married to his wife, Mary, for 40 years.  Lou has three sons, Louis, Tom and John, daughter in law Erin, and two beautiful granddaughters, Elouise and Gillian!
