Dr. Marianne Holler is recognized for her outstanding ability to connect with patients, helping them to get the care they need and no less, and the care they want and no more.
Holmdel, NJ, November 1, 2022. The Goals of Care Coalition of New Jersey (GOCCNJ) today awarded Marianne Holler, MSW, DO, FACOI, FAAHPM, Chief Medical Officer of the VNA Health Group for Hospice, Palliative Medicine, and the Parker Advanced Care Institute with the David LaMotte Award for Excellence in Patient Support. This prestigious award, established by GOCCNJ in honor of long-time Board Member, David LaMotte, acknowledges individuals whose support for patients and families reflects the belief that listening is a learned skill essential to patient-centered care and the work of healing.
“Dr. Holler listens generously to her patients, hears their stories, and learns not only what’s the matter WITH them, but also what matters TO them,” said David Barile, MD, Founder and Chief Medical Officer of GOCCNJ. “Dr. Holler was nominated by her colleagues for this award because of her extraordinary compassion, outstanding clinical skills and the personalized care she provides to her patients.”
“Receiving this award is an honor for me personally, but most importantly, it provides an opportunity for us to encourage one another to speak openly and honestly with family and friends about the type of care they would and would not want to receive in the event of a medical emergency,” said Dr. Holler.
Dr. Holler is highly regarded as a trusted clinician who skillfully navigates goals of care conversations and then helps patients and families make decisions about their care that align with their stated goals and values. She knows that it is only through this personalized exchange that providers and patients can co-create authentic, viable care plans.

The Goals of Care Coalition of New Jersey (GOCCNJ) was founded in 2018 to better communicate, coordinate and collaborate on issues and activities to improve care for people in our state living with serious illness. We aim to increase access to high-quality, person-centered palliative and end-of-life care by convening stakeholders, identifying unmet needs, advocating for equitable policies and improved health outcomes, and sharing best practices and resources. GOCCNJ is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit comprised of nearly 35 statewide organizations representing the interests of older adults and people with serious illness, and the diverse group of providers that care for them including the academic institutions in NJ training the next generation of healthcare professionals. Through advocacy, research, and education, our mission is to provide policy makers, healthcare providers, patients, and family caregivers with the information, resources, training, and tools they need to access comprehensive, high-quality, person-centered advance care planning, palliative and end-of-life care.

About Parker Advanced Care Institute at VNAHG, Inc.
Parker Health Group and VNA Health Group have recently partnered to launch the Parker Advanced Care Institute at VNAHG, Inc. (PACI). PACI is dedicated to helping patients with late-stage chronic illnesses stay at home comfortably with support from family, a visiting physician and palliative care team. The goal of the PACI is to educate clinicians, communities, patients and their families on best practices in chronic disease, palliative and hospice care. It was created to increase awareness about the challenges we face in long-term and home-based primary care. A key aspect of the PACI is Visiting Physician Services (VPS), a home-based primary care practice for older adult and homebound patients whose mission is to enable patients to stay at home as they age with an improved quality of life. Another component of the PACI is our Palliative Care Program which is an individualized approach to addressing physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of patients and families facing a serious or life-limiting illness.
