MGMA Awards Alex Binder, Vice President, Advanced Care Institute, VNA Health Group, 2018 Harwick Innovation Award

HOLMDEL, NJ (October 10, 2018) — Alex Binder, Vice President of the Advanced Care Institute for the New Jersey-based VNA Health Group was recently awarded the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) 2018 Harwick Innovation Award. This is a nationwide honor that recognizes a medical group practice executive who has met the challenges of the new healthcare system head-on and developed innovative solutions that enhance the effectiveness of healthcare delivery in his practice and community. Binder’s achievement was recognized during the MGMA 2018 Annual Conference in Boston, MA on October 1. 

Binder oversees the VNA Health Group’s home-based primary care practice, Visiting Physician Services (VPS), as well as their palliative medicine program. His responsibilities include enhancing and expanding their geriatric house call program as well as broadening the reach of palliative medicine in the hospital, post-acute, and community settings. 

Through his leadership over the past 15+ years, Binder has helped transform a traditional house call practice into one of the largest, most progressive home-based primary care programs in the country. Prior to joining the VNA Health Group, Binder was the Chief Operating Officer/Practice Manager of Visiting Physician Services. Binder is an adjunct professor at Monmouth University’s Leon Hess Business School and a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He served as the past President of the NJ Medical Group Management Association. As a member of the American Academy of Home Care Medicine (AAHCM), he will co-chair AAHCM’s 2018 Annual Conference.
